Overview



The JetBrains Lightweight Client loads via a browser link
The host sends an invitation link to their teammates. Anyone can join, even without a JetBrains IDE. Once they download the JetBrains client, the session can begin.


Code With Me has been completely redesigned
The entire experience has been reworked, including the host widget in the IDE, the client-side interface, telephony, and overall session behavior. Every aspect of the redesign follows the New UI guidelines for JetBrains IDEs, ensuring a more intuitive and consistent collaboration experience.

Study focus: Collaborative development scenarios, tools used for collaborative development, sessions initiation, roles of participants of collaborative development.
Methodology: 18 semi-structured remote interviews were conducted. We used an internal panel to recruit users of our IDEs. External recruiting panel User Interviews was used as a source for recruiting users of other plugins for collaborative development.



This table presents a user interaction funnel for Code With Me in IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate across different major releases. It tracks the percentage of users performing key actions. The data helps analyze user engagement and drop-off points in the collaboration workflow, providing insights into how effectively users progress through the feature.
